Eastern Lesvos : Sigri-Eressos

    This time we are going to wander through the most barren land of the island. Starting point is the picturesque fishers' village Sigri ( 1 ). As we are orientated southwards, our travelogue takes place beside the seashores. Our interim stop is going to be the valley of river Tsichliota ( 2 ). During our tour, we meet small bays with hospitable sandy beaches and bare mountains dotted with colorful parts of fossilized trees. This area has been inhabited since ancient times, fact that is proved by the ruins of various constructions, that we meet in the area. Form the river, we follow the rising road until the ridge and so our tour ends up -southwards - to our destination - the small town of Eressos ( 3 ).
