MUNICIPALITY OF PLOMARI

The Municipality of Plomari consists of the small town of Plomari and of the villages Akrasi, Ampeliko, Megalohori, Neohori, Paleohori, Plagia and Trygona. The town of Plomari is an insular town with a view over the blue sea of Aegean. It is a small town of 3800 inhabitants.

The modern town is built around the old historical centre and the Church of Saint Nikolaos. It consists of the neighbourhoods Platano, Agia Paraskevi, Tarsana, Agora, Proastio, Prophet Elias.

 

 To the east of Plomari and 2 kilometres from it, we will find the summer resort Saint Isidoros and to the west of Plomari the picturesque area Ammoudeli. 

AKRASI

    A settlement about 17 klm away from Plomari. Its architecture reveals a great interest. A special caracteristic is the ideal beach od Drota where you will find tavernas with fresh fish, fruits and vegetables.

AMPELIKO

    A mountain settlement built on Olympos mountain. All the round area is full of pines. It is 21 klm away from Plomari

MEGALOXORI

    What you can meet there are trees and fresh cold waters, while the architecture constitutes a great picture. Clean fresh air, and two churches, bring the visitors close to God.

NEOXORI

    16 klm away from Plomari. Is a very nice settlement, with plain vegetation and natural beaty.

PALEOXORI

    The village Paleohori is 11 kilometres from Plomari decorated with the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Evangelistria.

PLAGIA

    We will find the village Plagia situated in a plain very close to Plomari. The port of the village is situated in the area Agia Varvara

TRIGONAS

    The village Trygonas is a very beautiful village, very close to Plagia.

 

 

 

 

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

    From the 20th of August until the 30th of the same month there is a very important cultural happening that takes place in order to honour Veniamin the Lesbian. This happening is called the "Veniaminia".

RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS

    The Religious Festivals of Plomari

    The Religious Festival of Saint Nikolaos takes place on the 6th December. The last week of July take place the famous Religious Festivals of Prophet Elias, Saint Paraskevi and Saint Panteleimona.

    The easter custom of The Second Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a particular characteristic custom.
