Weaving is another section of Lesvian popular art that presents artistique creation : colororful textile through the use of the traditional wooden loom while the used threads for the decoration are painted with natural colors. Usually weaving is women's occupation and the decorative motives are derived from the natural landscapes. 

     The use of the final textile depends on the need that is going to cover. So we have textiles for daily use as blankets, carpets, tablecloths or for the holidays with expensive materials as silk. Also weaving supplies the cloth that will be converted into costumes. 

    The visitor of Lesvos can admire samples of this popular art at the Folk Art Museums of the island and can also buy unique traditional textiles from various workshops that exist even today at many villages like Ayiassos, Parakoila etc.
